    Generator buying guide

If you do not have the funds to buy an emergency power motor or need electricity for off-site activities, buying a generator is the best option. You must first calculate the amount of power your machine needs to get started to buy the best one.

The generators can provide the power required by devices that are critical to us so that we don't have problems while power outages.

Outside the house, a small electric motor can provide us with the TV, small appliances and lights we need. You can also purchase a medium power motor for your construction projects to use tools such as saws, drills, pistols and air compressors.

Note: Always read the power engine manufacturer's instructions on startup, maintenance, and safety during work.

What are the ideal features of an ideal generator?

Easy and quick start: Ideally the generator should be turned on by first or second pulling the start cable. Some of them have a starter button which is easier to switch on than the manual starter. These generators have a battery that is often sold separately.

Turn on time: Some generators are capable of staying up to 16 hours depending on the size of their fuel tank, but others turn off after 4 hours.

Air Pollutant Emissions: In many countries where environmental standards are met, the amount of pollutants that each device enters into the air has a virtual limit that must be met.

Safety features: The safety features of the generator include various things. One is to shut down the engine to prevent damage if the engine oil level is low. Other features include the GFCI shielding key, which can prevent the operator from electric shock when operating in wet and rainy conditions.

Oil and fuel gauge: The fuel gauge shows how much gasoline is left in the tank to measure when you know when to fill the tank. In the case of the oil gauge, the same applies to the gauge.

The generator maintenance instructions can be implemented.

Low noise when working: All generators produce noise when working, but the best one is the one that produces little noise when operating in the open air.

Wheeled: It is certainly not possible to drive a generator that weighs about 100kg without wheels, but in some models of them, it is not wheeled which is a disadvantage.

If you want to buy a wheel for an electric motor, 300 to 400 thousand Tomans will be added to the price of a generator.

Warranty: Always check the device when purchasing a warranty period to know the warranty conditions.

How to choose a suitable generator:

Before buying an electric motor, you need to know how many devices to turn on. To do this, you need to make a list of the devices and check the power consumption of each device and finally assemble all the devices.

You can refer to the technical plaque on the device, label or manual of each device to gain the power of each device.

    Very important point:

Devices with induction motors such as electromotor, elevator motors, refrigerators, washing motors, milling machines at the instant of start are the amount of ampere consumed that is several times the amount of ampere consumed on the plate.

Therefore, to select a power motor, it must be 2 to 2.5 times the power of the device, our power motor of choice.

How to buy a suitable generator:

As you know in emergencies such as storms, earthquakes and accidents you have a power outage, an alternative home electricity supply is a must. So follow the steps below to buy the right home electric motor and ask yourself these questions:

1- How much should the power of the generator be?

Get a complete list of the equipment you need to have during a power outage. Only lighting accessories? Do I need to turn on computers and appliances? Some households need refrigerators to store food during power outages.

If you need a generator for your job, make a complete list of the tools you want to turn on during power outages and calculate their power.

2- Fully calculate how much power is needed from the generator to turn on each device.

Make sure you are able to launch the devices and do not base the device's power. Note this very important point that the power required for devices with electric motors is about two to three times the rated power of the device.

If you have a device manual, see the power required to operate the device from there, otherwise double or triple the device's power to obtain the power required to operate the device and the appropriate power motor depending on choosing your need correctly.

3- Calculate the maximum power that the motor should provide.

In the first step we mentioned all the devices that need to be powered by a generator and in the second step we chose the power required to operate each device.

Now, in the final step, we gather all the power we can get together so that we get the right generator for operation and we can buy the generator on that basis.

Note that the generator has two items, namely the rated power and the output power, so that your choice of the appropriate power motor must be based on the actual power output of the motor.

Important points in buying a portable generator:

1- First determine the power you need. Portable generators can power between 900 and 10,000 watts.

2- Think of the ease for carrying your generator. Wheel speed, lightness and resistance of the wheels are also important for carrying the motor on rough surfaces and at different locations.

3- Pay close attention to the continuous operation hours of the generator. One of the most important things to consider when buying a generator is the constant clock operation, which indicates the uninterrupted operation of the electric motor and no need to refuel at that time.

4- Notice the number of outputs you are going to get from the generator. This depends on the number of devices you need to connect to the generator at the same time.

Completely check the accessories you need to turn on the power when a power outage occurs and buy the right power motor with the most output.

The following table shows the power consumption of most electrical appliances.
