    what is concrete screed

    What is concrete screed?

Troweling the concrete screed is the first step of concreting after concrete bending to smooth and level the concrete at a certain height before the surface bellowing operation that is available from 1 to 2 meters. Concrete screeds are usually fitted with a gasoline or electric vibrating motor that vibrates on the blade, making it easy to walk on the surface and to grip the concrete pores and holes while smoothing it. The price of the concrete screed trowel is directly proportional to its length and increases with the length of the motor's power blade and at the same price.

    The performance of concrete screed:

The way the concrete screeds work is that extra concrete is collected in front of the machine and the lower part of the surface is filled by the concrete to smooth, level and level it. Also, in most of them, the blades can be swapped and closed with different lengths.

The characteristics of a suitable concrete screed:

1- It has adjustable handles for maximum efficiency, convenience and operator control.

2- Should be fast and efficient for concreting.

3- It is possible to replace the blades and put valid brand blades on the machine.

4- The concrete screed trowel has a suitable motor with high power.

5- For the comfort of the operator, the weight should be balanced and proportional.

The applications of motor concrete screeds:

1- Smoothing and polishing of different concrete surfaces.

2- Align the concrete surface to a specified height.

3- Remove excess concrete and fill in holes and pores.

4- Eliminate excess water in concrete and create high strength concrete.

    The concrete screed’s price:

One of the factors affecting the price of concrete screeds is its blade length. Also, the price of motor trowel concrete screeds is far higher than the types of manual ones. Types of concrete screeds:

    1- Manual concrete screed:

This set of devices, also called telescopic concrete screeds, are used to smooth and level the concrete in different sizes.

In  concrete screed operations by hand trowel, only the concrete surface is smoothed, and these types of trowels will not have much effect in removing cavities in the concrete and excess water, which may be the reason. It is possible to know the absence of an engine on them.

    Types of manual concrete screed:

    Levelling concrete screed:

This type of screed is more commonly used for smoothing and leveling the concrete surface and their function is to move smoothly over the concrete surface and smooth the surface and eliminate the holes in the concrete.

    Polish concrete screed:

These types of trowel concrete screeds work like a butterfly trowel, performing the operation of polishing and polishing the concrete surface.

    Motor concrete screed:

On the handle, an electric or gasoline motor is attached which performs vibration on the blade, which makes it easy to move on the concrete and get the concrete pores. In addition to leveling the surface, they also do some sort of vibrator motor and vibrator hose.

The motor type is divided into two categories: 1-petrol-2-electric.

    Concrete screed with petrol motor:

On petrol type, a one horsepower petrol engine is usually used to vibrate the blade, which is very common due to the lack of electricity and the problems caused by the power cord such as twisting and the risk of electric shock.

    Concrete screed with electric motor:

The devices are powered by a 1.1-hp electric motor that operates on 220V, which vibrates the blade and simplifies the movement of the device on concrete. However, electric ones are less useful than gasoline models because of the need for electricity and the limitations and inconveniences such as twisting the power cord around the device and the possible dangers.

    Concrete screed for concrete surface:

Very important point in buying concrete screed:

The motor type is available in both high and low engine models.

Always try to buy high motor concrete screeds because in this type the surface of concrete will not touch the concrete and the lifetime of the device will be increased. But in the low engine type, the useful life of the engine is much shorter due to the concrete surface contact with the engine and high erosion.

How to check and change the motor oil:

Safety tips while using concrete screed:

1- When using the device to prevent damage, be sure to wear eye protection goggles and safety boots, and it is also advisable to wear ear protectors against motor noise.

2- Do not manipulate or inspect moving parts while the machine is running and the machine is working.

3- Do not use electric concrete screeds as far as possible and if used, be sure to check all equipment and cables before starting.
