Defective equipment is always news for owners, operators and users, especially when it comes to an important tool in the development of a project.
The generator is one of these devices, the presence of which guarantees the operation of many other tools and devices, and its absence means that these devices are stopped.
In practice, this device becomes a branch of electricity in its surroundings, and when it breaks down, it seems as if the electricity has been cut off in that environment.
Knowing this issue and the high sensitivity that exists regarding the breakdown and improper performance of the generator, we decided to make a note focusing on the question, what are the main reasons for the non-generator?
Let's write. In the following note, we will try to give a brief overview of the causes of power outages and malfunctions.
Before addressing this question, it should be noted that this is basically not a comprehensive guide and, of course, cannot be a substitute for the expertise and experience of a specialist.
Second, sometimes some problems with the generator may be rare and outside the scope of the causes described in this text. However, the use of this note is only recommended for cases where there is urgency and inability to reach experts.
Generator failure and three categories of causes
Note that there are different causes for a power outage, but all causes fall into three main categories.
Engine problem
Problem in the generator
Problems with the electrical panel
As you know, the generator consists of three main components: motor, generator and generator, and the performance and coordination of these three components allows the production of electricity.
In the case of failures, problems can also be examined in these three categories. In the following, we will examine these three categories of problems in detail.
Engine problem
Sometimes the generator does not start and does not provide the driving force needed to generate electricity.
It is usually much easier to spot the problem in this area because the sound or vibration of the device can be used to detect signs of poor engine performance.
In many cases, when the generator does not supply electricity at all and this problem is caused by the motor, the motor will not turn on at all because even with incomplete lighting and poor performance, some electricity will be generated.
But what are the problems with the motor that will cause the generator to fail? The main causes of poor engine performance are as follows.
Starter problem: If the engine does not start properly and the problem is not that the tank is empty, there may be a problem adjusting the throttle valve or the starter electric itself.
The type of starter is effective in this case and if you are facing an electric starter, the problem can also be in the starter circuit of the generator.
Fueling Problem: The refueling kit includes the tank itself, fuel transfer hoses and pumps. Usually, due to impurities in the fuel, the filters and filters of the filled pumps may not enter the engine properly. In this case, the cost of repair is low and the problem will be solved somewhat easier.
Problems with the engine itself: The carburetor and the engine cylinders themselves may have problems for a variety of reasons.
In most cases, placing the engine under high operating pressure can cause problems with the piston assembly, connecting rod, cylinder shell or valves. In this case, it should be said that the problem is very acute and engine repair is expensive.
Improper breathing: Sometimes there is a problem with the engine breathing. For example, despite an obstruction in the exhaust or ventilation assembly of the engine, the engine may not start or reach the proper power.
In most cases, the problem can be easily solved by removing the blockage. Sometimes the only problem is the deposition of impurities and soot.
It needs to be reiterated that the above are the only major causes of this and not all problems arise from these causes. Determining the exact cause will depend on careful consideration.
Another important issue to be addressed in this section is the differences between a diesel generator and a gasoline generator in this section. The problems in the diesel engine power section are different from the problems in the gasoline engine.
Problem in the generator
Sometimes the engine works properly and produces enough propulsion, but there is a problem with the generator. In this case, the output motor rotates, rotation enters the generator, but ultimately no electricity is generated by the generator section.
It is not possible to check all the components of the generator, but depending on the type of generator, the shaft may be broken or gripped, the commutator may be damaged or the armature may not be able to move.
The problems in this area are more in the knowledge of electrical professionals than mechanical. Most problems with generator generators cannot be solved by individuals and should be referred to a specialist.
Problems with the electrical panel
Although electrical switchboard is not a good word to describe this section, it is mostly used among the general public. After production in the generator, electricity is transferred to a set of circuits and components, and at this stage it will be stable and usable by electrical devices.
There are more than a hundred electrical components in these parts, so it is usually recommended to replace them if a problem is identified in the output terminals and circuits of this part.
Of course, repair is not impossible, and in some cases, by repairing the fuses and improving the circuit problems, you will see the re-operation of the generator, but in general, due to the sensitivity of this part in the performance of the generator, it is recommended to replace it.
Sometimes the problem is somewhere else
Note that sometimes the cause of a power outage is not the structural problems themselves, but the accessories.
In addition to making sure that the device and equipment that will be connected to the generator are safe, you should also carefully check the terminals, plugs, wires and terminals.
Sometimes the generator works properly and the output power is in good condition, but due to problems in the connection path and interface wires, we see that the device does not turn on.
So be sure to make sure of this before dealing with the structure of the generator.
